Why I Built This Blog

Back in 2017, I started blogging to document a trip to the UK, and I did it on my less than stellar website back then. It felt like a fun and ambitious idea at the time, but it didn’t take long before I hit some obstacles. My programming knowledge was limited, so typing out posts, figuring out the formatting, and getting things to look the way I wanted was a real challenge.
The other tough part? Knowing almost no one was reading. It’s hard to stay motivated when you're putting in the effort and barely getting any visits. But I kept at it, mostly for myself and for the experience of creating something from scratch.
Now, several years later, I’ve decided to return to blogging. This time, the motivation is different. I’m working through a Toastmasters Pathways project, and one of the options was to blog. Compared to the other choices—podcasting, video creation, or moderating a panel discussion—writing felt like the most natural fit for me.
I already had a website, so it made sense to update it and bring blogging back into the mix. It didn’t take much to get things going again, and I’m happy to have a space where I can share ideas, reflect on projects, and document parts of my personal journey.
As for interaction, I’ve kept things simple. While I could add a comment section, I’ve included contact information instead. If you ever want to reach out, I’d be glad to hear from you.
So why did I build this blog? To fulfill a project, sure—but also to reconnect with something I once enjoyed. And maybe this time around, it won’t matter so much how many people are reading.
My pathway project dictates I complete 8 blog posts within a month, and this is blog post number 7. Will I stop at 8? Time will tell.
Thanks for stopping by.
